THE LEGACY OF THE LATE, GREAT MIXOLOGIST TATSURO YAMAZAKI LIVES ON AT THE ICONIC BAR YAMAZAKI
A diamond in the rough of the rowdy izakaya and dive bars that crowd Sapporo city’s Susukino entertainment district, Bar Yamazaki is an elegant, old-school joint with excellent service and bartenders dedicated to their craft. The bar’s legendary original owner Tatsuro Yamazaki was kicking ass and serving drinks well into his nineties, and won several international awards for his creative cocktails.
Unfortunately, Mr. Yamazaki passed away in 2016 at the age of 96, but his apprentices still serve the drinks with class—the Yamazaki way. Skip the martinis and go straight for the original cocktails like the classic “Sapporo,” and toast to an icon.
